Vision of Love (VOL) recently commenced it’s phase 2 of the livelihood project development in the village Sivanagar in Mullaitivu District of Sri Lanka. One of the initiatives supports the needy to improve the existing small businesses or setup new businesses. In this second small business, a 31 years old woman with one son benefited from our support. She is running a tea kiosk on lease at Odduchuddan junction. The tea kiosk is located in an ideal spot close to the Divisional Secretariat. She and her son are managing the business without employing any outsiders. The daily business is fairly good. However, the shop had no adequate hygienically precautionary measures and the local health authorities have warned her to improve the conditions. The food items were exposed and she needed one showcase, glass almirah to keep the items closed and visible to the customers. An additional door was required on the front side to keep the showcase and almirahs. VOL offered to fund these items to help her improve the hygienic conditions and run the business according to the standards. VOL had also advised her to save monthly from her profit and she has already started a saving account in the bank and promised to save monthly.
