Vision of Love organised second pre-screening at District General Hospital (DGH), Trincomalee on 27.02.2018. 40 patients from a number of villages – Upooral, Seenanveli, Eachilampattrai, Kilivetty and surrounding villages were brought to DGH Trincomalee. After checking vision, the patients were referred to doctor’s examination and then to Refraction room if required. Pre-screeening examination was done by a Consultant Eye Surgeon. Lens scanning was done by optometrists and IOL power for each patient was determined. A 74 years old male diagnosed with droping nucleus, admitted to ward on 07.03.2018 and transferred to TH Batticaloa for further investigation and management. A 50 years old male diagnosed with Corneal destruction, admitted to ward on 09.03.2018 and transferred to TH Kandy. A total of 27 patients were diagnosed for cataract which will be performed by a Consultant Surgeon. 11 of them have refractive error and need spectacles. Vision of Love is pleased to organise a free eye screening camp at District General Hospital (DGH), Trincomalee on 13th Feb 2018. In total 32 people participated in the camp from Kilivetty and surrounding villages. A number of staff from DGH Trincomalee including Consultant Ophthalmologist involved with the camp. Transportation of patients from Kilivetty and surrounding villages to DGH Trincomalee was arranged with CTB Muttur. For some patients journey started as early as 3am due to their location. They reached the hospital at 7:30am. After checking vision, the patients were referred to doctor’s examination and then to Refraction room if required. Lens scanning was done by optometrists and Intra-Ocular Lens (IOL) power for each patient determined. One 75 years old female patient from Palathopur, Thopur was diagnosed with the dislocated lens thus admitted to the hospital immediately and the operation was done on 15.02.2018. A total of 29 patients were diagnosed for cataract and the operations will be performed by Consultant Surgeon. Vision of Love organised free eye camps in the villages of Trincomalee , to eliminate needless blindness to a certain extent in areas that need it most. Camp 1 – Free Medical Camp at our adopted villages Upural and Seenanveli under Eachchalampattai DS division now known as Verugal DS Division of Trincomalee , which is 90km away from town. 298 people registered in this camp with 10 people identified as cataract patients. Camp 2 & 3 – Free Eye Camp – Screening for Cataract patients at Villages Kilivetty and Verugal division surrounding villages which are 60km away from town. 210 people registered with around 70 people identified as cataract patients. Camp 4 & 5 – Another Free Eye Camp –at Paatalipuram and Sampoor’s surrounding villages which are 50 to 70km away from town. Vision of Love performed 28 cataract operations for the people from the south of Sri Lanka at the Monaragala Hospital on 24th October 2017. This is another milestone for Vision of Love. Mrs. Vasuki, the beneficiary of the 1st house built by Vision of Love (VOL) in Nehrupuram speaks

Vision of Love (VOL) laid the foundation for the third new house in the village of Nehrupuram in the Thirukkovil AGA division in the Ampara district in November 2017. VOL is building a new house for a family whose income is very low. They’re facing many problems in their day to day life and the children don’t eat enough food and don’t concentrate in their studies due to poverty. Vision of Love’s next cataract operations were performed successfully on 17/10/2016 in Jaffna general hospital for 10 people who were selected from Skanthapuram, Kilinochchi, Jeyapuram, Visuvamadu, Uthayanagar, and Ananthapuram, Sri Lanka.
